Wednesday's Deal of the Day

You all know how much I love Fave4. It has done a world of difference for my hair. For the month of July, they are promoting a No Blow Dry July. I am all for this. Anytime I don't have to blow dry, I don't. Before Fave4, I use to hate not blow drying because my hair would be wispy and didn't look good. Now that I have Fave4 products, I don't have that problem. Right now, they are having a 4 for $44 sale. This includes Up For Air dry cream, Dearly Detangled conditioning mist, Texture Takeover enhancing hairspray and Dirty to Flirty dry shampoo. Guys....I have all of these and all of them work amazing! This is incredible deal.
I have linked it ~here~

Get over to Fave4 and get this. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Five on Friday

one. This man
I didn't give this man of mine his own Father's Day blog due to not having a day to but he knows how loved he is by Brody and I because we tell him all day. He is seriously the best for us. He works hard, he is kind and loving towards people. Even when he is stressed to the max, he never lets Brody know it. He is incredible and I am so lucky to call him mine.

Honest just launched their new summer diaper line and I am so in love with them. Pineapples, flowers, surfboards, seashells and Toucans. Also, how cute is this kid of mine searching for food? hahaha #cheeseballsplease

three. Nespresso
I bought Bobby a Nespresso machine for Father's Day and we had no idea how much we would actually enjoy it. I got him the Nespresso VertuoLine one. The reason I chose this one is because you can make a large cup of coffee instead of just an espresso. It has both options. We use the coffee option about 80% more. It holds a lot more water and it also allows dumps the coffee pod into a small trash can on the side. I just love it. So glad I invested in this for him. We do get the coffee/espresso pods off Amazon.

four. I am in trouble
This face! He gets me every time. I try to be mad at him and then he smiles at me or makes me laugh and I just can't. Those blue eyes, blonde hair and dimples.

five. 3 year blog anniversary
Today marks the 3 year anniversary of my blog! I never knew when I started this the places it would take me. 3 years! Wow. So much has happened in these last three years in my life. I have had 160,000 views in the 3 years and I have made 705 post. I thank you all for coming every day or every week to read and get a peek into my life. I wonder where the next year will take me and what adventures I will go on.

Today is the last day to enter the Lipsense Lip-Gloss giveaway! Winner announced Monday on the blog! I will also either text or email the winner.

Timeout

We have started timeouts here in the Lewis household. They started about a month ago, not many at first but as he slowly is becoming closer to the age of 2 and the terrible twos are coming out. He gets timeout about once a day now. But he understands it and it works. I chose not to spank Brody because he doesn't need it. I think spanking should be the very last thing and only if they understand the concept of it. I know for some kids, spanking works. I just don't see the need for it yet and as long as timeout works, that is what I will keep doing. He has a certain spot he goes to and up until last week I have had to take him. Now, I tell him to go to timeout and he goes. He sits anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute, how ever long it takes him to understand and calm down. And when he is calm and has stopped crying, he looks at me and says done. Only then do I allow him to get up. And when time out is over, I make him give me a hug and kiss. I always remind him why he was in timeout and he is always a better kid afterwards. I feel like Brody just sometimes needs a minute to calm down and I need a minute to calm down. So this is working so great for us and I am proud that I have found something that works for us all.

Funny timeout story: He was having a fit over the word no so I told him to go to timeout. So he went. 15 seconds later I went to check to see if he was sitting there and he was. So I walked away. About 15 seconds after that, I heard his bedroom door close. As I went to correct his mistake and make him sit in timeout longer for doing this, I bust open the door, ready to yell and I see him sitting in his tee-pee reading. HOW CAN YOU YELL AT A KID FOR READING! I said "Brody you are supposed to be in timeout but how can I punish you for reading." I walked away and he stayed in there a good 5 minutes by himself, just going through his books.

A couple of things I have learned about this new adventure:
-Find a space in the house that has no meaning and make it the timeout spot. His spot is in his room, by his laundry hamper. I can easily see him without him seeing me. It isn't a place he sleeps or plays or reads or eats. He can't hurt himself or get into anything.
-Even if you don't think they understand, they do. I always explain to him after he gets out why mommy put him there. I feel like it works. He has only gone to timeout for the same reasons only a few times. Usually the timeout is for something new, a new button he is trying to push.
-I have to allow him to express himself and be himself. I don't ever want to take that away from him so if he is mad or upset, I try never to do timeout. I only do timeout if it is for something he understands he is not supposed to do. Like scream at me when I tell him no to something. Or if he gets super mad and hits the walls with his hands. Things like that have no place in our home and he knows it. I want him to learn how to calm himself and when he is that mad or upset, how to breathe and reflect.
-The hug and kiss when it is all over is the cherry. It's a sorry when he doesn't know how to say sorry yet. It's a way to bring us back together and not be mad at each other. It's like the fresh start.

I share this because I know a lot of us are just getting by day by day with these kiddos and I have found something that works for us and maybe could work for you. I know all kids are different and are learning differently, but if you find Brody is like your kiddo, try this method out. Or if anyone has any other method that doesn't involve spanking, please let me know!

700th blog post

Friday was my 700th blog post but with it being Father's Day...I had to postpone it! I still can't believe I have hit 700. This is insane. You know what else is insane? This AWESOME giveaway I am having. My sister in law Angie sells Lipsense and I am so in love with it.
So today's giveaway is a pomegranate lip-gloss and a glossy gloss. Below is me wearing it. I also chose to wear no other makeup so you could see the lips fully.

Not familiar with Lipsense. It is a long lasting lip-gloss. This stuff is amazing. It last for hours. You apply the color, two to three layers and then you apply the gloss on top to hold it in place. I seriously love this stuff.

Enter the rafflecopter below. The contest goes from today, Monday, the 19th, through Friday, June 23rd. You can enter once a day as well with up to 5 entries! Good luck!

Please take note: Do NOT go through the Facebook Log In for this entry. Please use the Use Your Email!

Five on Friday- Father's Day Edition

You didn't think I would let it be almost Father's Day and not do one for my Hero did you?

one. Dad
He's my dad. He is always there for me. He knows what I need to hear and when I need to hear it. He is my hero from the day I was born. I understand him like no other. He was at every softball game and was at every recital. He never missed a beat with me. I am his girl and I take great pride in that. He is the best dad in the world.

two. Pop
A name he loves. A name is cherishes. My dad as a father is amazing. My dad as a grandfather, is beyond the stars. He LOVES his grand-babies. He is the type that will take over when you need a break. He doesn't care if he has to hold them for 2 hours to make them feel comfortable, he just does it. It amazes me every time I see them with him. He's the first to volunteer to help out with them. He makes them laugh and spoils them!

three. Dogs
My family loves dogs. It's just in us from day one to. My dad takes it to a whole other level of loveness for dogs. He has never met a dog he didn't love and a dog has never met my dad and not loved him. If he could adopt every dog in the world, he would. He's comfortable around them, he spoils them and loves them like no other. It is a special trait my dad has.

four. Provider
I remember growing up and dad having multiple jobs to support us. Mom took care of us emotionally and at home, and dad made sure we had that home and food. Mom worked some (don't want to not give her credit) but it was always Dad I admired in the business world. I loved watching him work. He never complained to us about having to provide for us. He just did. He just believed that God would always provide and worked to help that and give Kara and I a great life.

five. Love
His love for his girls is like no other. He is his happiest when his girls are with him (Mom included). He takes great pride in being a girl dad. He says its made him a better man because of it. He rolls his eyes and gets quiet when talk about girl things and he can never get a word in when it's the four of us but he doesn't care. He just stands there and smiles. You ask him what his favorite thing in the world is....it would be his girls!

I also asked my sister her top 5 reasons she loves my dad and those were:
*He calls everyone by a nickname
*He defends Tim no matter what and loves him like a son
*He is the biggest animal lover
*He loves Disney World more than anyone I know
*He's never met a souvenir shop he can't walk into

I also asked my mom her reasons:
*He is her soft place to land
*He is her biggest cheerleader
*She loves how his happy place is when he's with his family
*He never complains about providing for his family, growing up and now
*He always thinks that she is the best thing that happened to him

Landry said: Because he's my Pop and he spoils me! He's the best pop in the universe and I never want him to change!
Hayden said: He gives me my super hero vitamins in the morning.

Happy Father's Day Dad! I love you so very much and I hope you always know that!

Small World BIG Imagination

Dear Diary,

Small World BIG Imagination....Ever heard of this place? My mom told me about it. She had taken Hayden there for a birthday party and raved about it. So I told Gabby and Lina about it and we decided to make a play date there. We all 6 piled into the Yukon and away we went. The place was a little smaller than I had pictured but the kids still had a great time.

It is $12 to get in (for kids, parents free) and they can stay as long as they like. When you are leaving, you can grab a healthy snack (included in your $12). If I lived closer to Southlake, I would make this a bi-weekly thing for us. Inside here is a grocery store, a firehouse, a firetruck, a doctors office, a car you can work on, a camp ground, a farm, a boat you can play fish from, a house, craft stations, a puppet show area and I might be missing a few to be honest.

Brody's favorite thing there by far was this shopping cart by Melissa and Doug. He loved it so much...I bought him one for the house. I pick it up today from Sockmonkey Junction here in Mansfield.

It is a whole bunch of fun and I highly recommend it if you have a child under 7 or 8 or a child with a huge imagination that loves play time or pretend time!

Love, Me
