Five on Friday

one. BB aka Big Bear
Target. Go in for one thing, come out $200's later! Well that happened to me last Friday night. Bobby had a guys night so I took little B to sushi and then we needed to go to Target to get Honest diaper cream. I happen to go to the toy section to look for something specific and the aisle I happen to go down, happened to be the aisle with these huge stuffed animals. There was no turning around. He screamed BEAR! And I knew there was no getting out of this store without it. So we texted daddy, asking him if it was alright if we got it and bobby just laughed and said of course. The smile on Brody's face was priceless. Everyone we passed to the check out he said bear at. The lady in line behind us, he kept telling her about his bear. He cried when I put him in his carseat without the bear and as soon as I gave it to him, laughed and smiled and held it the whole way home. We nicknamed it BB for Big Bear.

You may ask why I specifically went to Target for that. Because y'all....this stuff works! It is the best diaper cream on the planet. I kid you not. Brody had diarrhea last week from teething and being on milk alone and he got an awful diaper rash. The only thing I had at home was Aquaphor. And that works ok, but it is made for more of a barrier, not a treatment. Honest diaper cream healed him overnight! I kid you not. When he woke up Saturday morning and I went to change him, he was just a tad pink still. And he was super red and sore the night before. It is a little more expensive than Destin, etc. but for overnight relief and comfort, I will spend the extra couple of dollars.

We went on a limb with these the other day. Brody isn't a very picky eater and he will try anything, but if he doesn't like something one time, his little brain remembers it and he won't eat it or try it again. Like eggs, we have tried eggs so many times but he hates them. Anyways. So we made him one to see he liked it and you would have thought I gave him chocolate cake! He devoured it so we made him a few more and he ate those too. They also make a popcorn chicken and he loves those too! They are soft and easy to eat for him. I don't feed him gluten free on everything but if there is an option to, I see it as a plus.

four. This weather
Can we talk about the weather this week! Highest it has been is 88. This is my kind of weather. Cool in the mornings and night, warm durning the day. I could live forever in this weather. And next week seems just as good. Good thing because we have plans for next Saturday and next Sunday and it is going to be gorgeous! And can we give a hip-hip-hooray for tomorrow being October!

I know I rave on Emerald Sky a lot, but they are so worth it. And this shirt happens to be my favorite. It is super soft and everywhere we go, people love it. And they just released it in navy as well as the grey. And look at my bambino from just a year ago! Time is flying by!

The sippy cup

Dear Diary,

The dreaded sippy cup.

I started Brody on water at 5 months old. Out of a sippy cup. And he is amazing at drinking water and flavored water out of it.

But milk. Milk has been a problem. He took formula until he 12 months old. Then his pediatrician told me to do half formula, half milk until his system got use to the milk. Well last week we finally finished all formula and it has been strict milk. But out of a bottle. And he loves it.

But taking it out of a sippy cup has seem to be an issue. Until Monday afternoon. I was told to have a cup just for milk. To make a certain cup available for that, that stays in the fridge and that he understands what that cup is for. I tried milk in his "normal" sippy cup and he threw it at me. So I went to Target and found these really cool sippy cups. They are probably more advanced than what his age needs, but my kid is advanced and I knew he could handle it.

He loves it! He loves the cup. And he is drinking milk from it. Kinda. Since he knows what is in the cup, if he doesn't want it, there is no getting him to drink it. But if he's kinda in the mood or sleepy, I can get a little bit down him.

The problem I am seeing is he doesn't like cold milk. Like milk straight from the fridge. One night I warmed the milk in a separate cup and then put it in there and he drank more. But I don't want him to always drink warm milk. That's just not possible and the kid isn't that spoiled.

Does anyone have any advice for me on this? Is it just over time they gradually will drink milk from it? Am I just trying to hard to make it work and I need to just be patient?

ANY advice is good advice!

Like you need a reason

Today is National Drink Beer Day.

Like we need a day to tell us to drink beer but whatever. Let's go with it and enjoy it. Did you know around this time of year, you will find the most selections of beer!
I want to know what your all time favorite beer is? What beer is your go to beer? What beer do you drink when you eat? I don't think cider counts as beer since it's not beer even though you find it in the beer isle.
Want to celebrate on social media? Make sure to use #DrinkBeerDay when posting!

And if you don't like beer, well then today is not for you! Sorry

You might notice in the first main of picture of all the products above that there are a few items that I did not talk about. It is because those products have already been in production, they just got new packaging and I wanted to focus the blog to the newbies.

My fall must have

Can we just talk about the weather outside today here in Dallas? If it wasn't rainy, it would be my ideal day.

Because today feels like Fall, this Fall season I have one thing on my fashion must have list.

OK that is a lie but one thing for sure I am going have is over sized cardigans and jackets. They add so much to an outfit and keep you warm for that fall chilly air.

Let me show you in pictures what I mean!

You should be able to find these at Target, H&M, CottonON, etc. Everywhere I went online and in store had them. They really are in this year so find one that fits your style.

Also, Pantone has put out their fall color collection winners. These are the colors that are in for Fall.

Five on Friday

one. This kid and that blanket
That was Bobby's baby blanket that became mine when we started dating. I slept with that thing for 11 & 1/2 years before handing it over to my son. Now he can't sleep without it. I love how attached he is to it because of the sentimental value it holds for both Bobby and I. Bobby knows to grab it durning a fire. And that will be easy to remember because as of right now, he grabs Brody, he grabs that blanket too.

A friend of mine bought this machine online and made her own "noodles" out of veggies. I went an easier route. I found them already ready to go. Y'all.....delicious and super easy to make. We added a little parmesan cheese, olive oil and Olive Garden dressing to it in a pan and in like 3 minutes it was done. And it tasted amazing. They come in zucchini, sweet potato, butternut squash and beet. We did the zucchini.

three. A crush
Brody has had a crush on Jasmine since the day he met her. He loves her (which my whole household does). The day we told him that David and Jasmine were getting married, he cried. When David come to his party by himself, he looked for her. The whole morning she was here last Sunday, he was by her side. And I love that they asked him to be the ring bearer for their wedding. It might break his heart to witness it but having him there will be very special to us.

four. This Is Us
My new favorite show. I can't rave enough on it. If you missed it, you can find it OnDemand or through Hulu or something. Watch it. Love it. Just a good show. NBC at 9pm on Tuesday.

five. Lion Cub
I know I blogged this picture yesterday, but I love it so much it made my five.
"Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the cutest lion cub of all?"
You are my handsome baby boy! You

40% off

Dear Diary,

Today only, Target is having 40% off babies and children's Halloween costumes (and selected candy). Target is already cheap enough for costumes but you add 40% off on top of that, it's like how do I not go. Only catch is that you must have the Target Cartwheel app. Besides my Instagram, Angry Birds and Candy Crush apps, Cartwheel app is my favorite! I use it every week and every week I save money just by having it. And then on top of that, I have a Target card and it is linked up to my debit account so it automatically comes out of my account but the perk is that I get 5% off everything! So if you have the app and the card, you can get 45% off halloween costumes today. It's really easy to use. Just download it from the app store, create an account and then add the things you want to your list and done!
(not everything at Target is on the app. Just certain products and they change weekly)
Brody had so many options! There is a commercial about a dad and his daughter and he takes her on an adventure to a zoo but the whole commercial she is wearing a tiger costume and Bobby just dies when he sees this commercial (it tugs at those daddy heartstrings). So he said to get Brody something like that. It was between a monkey and a lion and we decided on the lion.

He is the cutest lion I have ever seen!

For reference, Brody is 13 months, weighs 28 pounds and is about 32 inches tall. I got him 18-24 months and it is a little long on him but Halloween is in 6 weeks so I would rather it be a tad big than too small.

Colton

Happy Birthday to my first nephew, Colton Levi Talbert!

Where do I start? I love this kid so much. He is so smart and so electronically savvy. He can figure out any video game or app and he's only 7! I just love Colton's energy and his imagination. His imagination is so big and I pray he always has that spirit about him. I love that he loves Brody. He gives Brody so many kisses and hugs and it just warms my heart. He is such a great big brother and I hope he has the best birthday ever! I love you buddy!

Say it ain't so

Y'all....

My world has just been rocked. I don't know what to think of it or what to do. At first I was in total denial. Like "No, I don't believe it. Can't be true."

But then the more people talked about it, the more I had to listen to it. My mother texted me about it and an old friend even reached out to me and sent me an article about it.

It seems Monday morning, Angelina filed for divorce from Brad.

My all-time favorite power couple is done!
(According to social media. Neither one of them have actual spoken out on the matter so until then, there is a little part of me hoping this is just tabloids being tabloids).

My heart is broken. She is my favorite. He is my favorite. It's like when your best couple friends tell you that they are getting divorced and that it wasn't anything you could do and now you feel forced to pick sides!  Who do you choose?

My heart will always be Angelina's so if I am forced to choose a side in this divorce, I choose hers.

Our Mexican get-away

I wish I could have taken you all with me. I wish I could have stored you all in my carry-on and that way you could have seen how gorgeous this place was. But I couldn't and I didn't so you will have live vicariously through me today.

When Bobby and I were deciding what we wanted to do for our 5 year anniversary, I knew I wanted to go to the beach and I knew I wanted an all-inclusive. I had been seeing these very dirty commercials for this place called Secrets Resorts. If you have seen the commercials, you know what I am talking about. They should be shown at 11pm at night, not 3pm during Ellen.

Anyways.

So we looked it up and researched the best one and decided on Secrets Maroma. Located in Maroma, Mexico, about 30 miles south of Cancun and about 10 miles north of Playa Del Carmen. I thought the whole time we were going to Playa, hence why I told all of you. But once we got there, we learned we were actually in Maroma, that the resort name wasn't just a name.

Have you seen those commercials for booking.com where someone is walking through a nasty jungle and debating on if they made a great decision or not and then all of a sudden, behind a huge tree stands the most beautiful hotel/resort? That is exactly how it was for us. The driver took us off a beaten path, a small one lane road in the middle of nowhere and then all of a sudden, you come up to a large gate and behind that gate was the prettiest place I have ever seen.

I love the fact that Bobby and I paid one sum and we were done. Dinner, drinks all taken care of. And they did not disappoint. High end food, 24 hour room service and top shelf drinks.

But let's stop chatting and let's get to looking at photos!

The Resort.
The front lobby area where you check in.

Right outside the main area. This is the way you walk everyday to get to the pools or the beach.

The hotel bus had picked us up from the airport and took us to the resort. When we got there, they served us champagne with cherries in them. I had 3 of them by the time I was in the room. Don't judge!

Our room.
We got a swim out pool room. We had one of these on our honeymoon and we knew we wanted one again. To be honest, we didn't use it as much as we used the one in Jamaica. Mosquitos were so bad that I had to be very careful what time of day I wanted to go swimming. But I was still glad we got this room. The room also had a huge jaccuzzi tub in the middle of the room which was so nice after a long day at the beach. They also had a Happy Anniversary banner on our door the whole time so the staff would know.

Our days.
To be honest, I did not take that many photos. Which is so unlike me. But I was enjoying my time with my husband, I was enjoying my drinks and I was enjoying be baby free. We hung out by the pool mostly and would venture to the beach once a day to enjoy it. I am not one for getting in the water and when I do, I don't go past my waist. But Bobby loves it so I just laid out and took in the quiet. Friday night we went to the dance club they had there and didn't get back to the room till 2am. Saturday morning was full of Bloody Mary's and bacon and a nap. Saturday was our actual 5 year anniversary so we decided on the French resturant that night. By far my favorite meal of the whole trip. They had escargot and I got 2 of them! One for appitizer and one for dessert. Sunday we watched the football games at the bar because it was pouring down rain but we didn't care. It was nice to be out of the sun for a little bit and enjoying the games.

There was multiple bars but 2 of them had swings instead of bar stools. One of my favorite things about this place.

Buffet breakfast everyday. I ate more bacon on this trip then I prolly eat in one year!

Our favorite pool. The beach is just over the side of those huts. We got here early everyday so we could get a spot to see.

We enjoyed a cuban cigar because why not. We don't inhale, just puff and what you see gone is all we did. It ended up lost or thrown away or something.

We thought about getting a hut on the beach for the day but we didn't. They always seemed to be taken and since we didn't stay the whole day by the beach, we decided against it. But they sure are beautiful.

Favorite meal! If anyone knows where I can get escargot in Dallas/Ft. Worth.....you must let me know!

Last day.
We both slept in everyday because we could. But this morning, we had to be at the bus by 7:45am so we decided to get up early and go walk the property one last time. I got the best pictures. The sun was just right over everything and we just stood there hand in hand, not talking, just there together, enjoying God's handy work, enjoying our last moments of freedom :-)

If you are interested in where we went, here is the link for the resort. We actually booked through Cheap Caribbean and it helped save time and money on everything. They did mess up our seats going and coming but that was an easy fix through the airline ticket counter.

I seriously had the best time. I can't wait to go back. Secrets will always be a place I go to first when looking for vacations. The guy there said they were building in Puerto Rico which doesn't require a U.S. passport so once that one is up and going, I am going to look into that.

I can't wait for our next getaway. I love being with this man of mine!
