Here at Hold the Gluten Please, nothing is off limits. I am a proud mom and wife. I love God, food, wine and movies and I plan on talking about it all.
Happiest of birthdays to my nephew, Kent Samuel Lewis!
He is 7 today and I just can't believe it. He is so incredible with Brody and he never complains when Brody jumps all over him. He sets the most amazing example and every time I tell Brody we are going to see Kent, Brody starts screaming with joy. Kent is kind and always gives me a hug. If you can't tell, I just adore him!
Happy Birthday Kent.
I sure do love you and your crazy self. I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Happy Anniversary to my Grammy and Granddaddy! 59 years today! Most people can't even make it 5, let alone 59. I absolutely love these two people I get to call my grandparents. I have always looked up to them in many ways. They always made being grandparents seem like a lot of fun. Grammy always had her chip drawer stocked for when I would come over and Granddad would always let me try to first fry out of the fryer to make sure it tasted good. It's these little things that stick with me now that I am older. Brody has found a love for them too and I just adore that!
Grammy and Granddaddy-
Happy 59th Anniversary. I sure do love the two of you more than words can say. I would say here's to 59 more but good lord that's a long time! So here's to making it to 60 years cause we are going to have the biggest party to celebrate y'all!
I have seriously listened to this song more times than I want to admit by Taylor Swift. She released it Thursday and it's been going non stop on Spotify. Last night, at the MTV VMA's, she released the music video and boy is it good.
Enjoy!
Let's go over this video real fast: ~Her thing is the old Taylor is dead. Hence her coming out of the grave. ~She crashed a fancy car looking like Katy Perry. ~She joined a biker gang. ~She became a BDSM crew leader. ~She's Queen of the Snakes now? ~She lead a crew wearing I <3 TS shirts (Tom Hiddleston reference maybe) ~At the very end, we see Taylor as every other Taylor in every other video or award show. People are claiming this song is for Kim (who she dresses up like in the video at one point) and Kanye but no word yet on if this is true. Whoever it is for, I don't care. I just the love the song and the beat. I can't wait for her new CD, Reputation, which drops November 10. You can go ahead and pre-order ~here~ if you want and you know you want to!
The husband surprised me with this today. I am so excited. I have hated our vacuum since we got married (a big clunky heavy Shark) and have begged for this for years now. Ours died the other day so he went and bought this one for me. I LOVE it! No cords, it's super light weight and I can just go around the house super fast with it. Also, Brody can use it. That's how light weight it is. Highly recommend it. (And it's pink)
three. Big
All of a sudden, Brody is looking older to me. His face is looking not babyish anymore. He sure is a handful but he knows how to melt my heart!
four. Show week
This week at Little Gym was show week for Brody's class. He got a medal (even though he chose not to perform which is so not like him but he was having a moment) and was all about wearing it for the rest of the day! We sure do love Mrs. Rae!
five. Friends
I am blessed to call these ladies my friends. I don't know how I would get through my day without them!
I was scrolling through Facebook this morning and found a TBT of Bobby and me when we were just dating. We were so young when we met and I thank God everyday he let me become his wife. This was from our first Disney trip together, for my dad's 50th birthday. I had no idea the life I had ahead of me at the time. I try to think back on those days and think about where my life has come. It wasn't always easy but it was my road to take and I am just thankful I had him by my side to take it.
Seeing these photos kinda makes me wanna cut my hair again and go darker.
I am dying for fall. It is by far my favorite season. The fresh air. No allergies. PSL everything. And fall colors. I adore fall colors. They are so warm and inviting.
This years top 10 fall colors according to Pantone's report are:
PANTONE 17-1558 Grenadine- A powerful, evocative, dynamic red, Grenadine is a confident and self-assured attention-getter.
PANTONE 19-1725 Tawny Port- Taking the Red family to new depths, Tawny Port is elegant, sophisticated, and tasteful.
PANTONE 13-2808 Ballet Slipper- Descended from the Red family but with a softer touch, Ballet Slipper is always flattering and reminiscent of the rosy glow of health.
PANTONE 16-1341 Butterum- This snug, warming, and toasty shade is evocative of drinking a glass of Butterrum by a roaring fire on a cool autumn evening.
PANTONE 19-4029 Navy Peony- A mainstay for the season for both palettes, Navy Peony is a dependable and an anchoring shade. Solid and stable, the hue takes some of the load off of black as a go-to neutral.
PANTONE 17-4402 Neutral Gray- The standard bearer of all neutrals, Neutral Gray shares the anchoring role with Navy Peony in this palette. It can be used as an accent or a head-to-toe statement shade.
PANTONE 19-4524 Shaded Spruce- This is a green you might see in the forest – sheltering and protective as evergreen trees.
PANTONE 16-0543 Golden Lime- Earthy tones with a twist, the golden undertones of Golden Lime makes this yellow-green shade a refreshing complement to fall classics.
PANTONE 17-4041 Marina- Cool with an enhanced vitality, Marina is the only truly cool color in the fall palette that brings with it freshness and brightness.
PANTONE 17-1145 Autumn Maple- A quintessential autumn color, Autumn Maple is tawny and russet, introducing warmth into the palette.
My favorites are Tawny Port, Shaded Spruce and Autumn Maple. I am going to be searching the stores to add these colors to my wardrobe this season!
The Defenders came out on Netflix last Friday and I couldn't wait to get started watching this. If this is on your Netflix list to watch, watch it. BUT make sure you have watch Daredevil season1 and 2, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist (they all only have 1 season each) or you will have NO idea what is going on. It would be almost impossible to understand what is happening without watching these first.
The Defenders is only 8 episodes and I couldn't stop watching. It is so good. It took a good 3 episodes for them to join forces but once they did...BAM! Each episode is jam packed with action and drama and some really funny scenes. We do lose a couple of people along the way and a few times I wondered how it all would end but it was seriously so good and so many answers to questions were answered.
If you want to start watching, watch them in this order:
Daredevil season 1
Jessica Jones
Daredevil season 2
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
The Defenders
All of these have new seasons coming out in 2018 and 2019 plus The Punisher is coming which I am stoked about. Don't have Netflix....it's cheap. Get it.
If you watched The Defenders....what were your thoughts on it? Let me know!
Y'all....Fabletics is having their semi-annual sale and it is so good. They do this twice a year and everything is marked down by so much! $8+ sport bras, $10+ shirts, $15+ pants plus dresses, shorts, skirts, swim wear and accessories. The sale ends this Thursday for VIP members so don't delay!
Becoming a VIP is super easy. It is $50 a month and you get one outfit of your choosing. If you choose to not want that month, you simply skip by the 5th of the month and you are not charged. If you forget, they do charge you but it goes towards your account, so you would have credit! There stuff is simply the best for workout and everyday life. I practically live in it.
Please don't hesitate to ask me questions. I know everything about this company. I can also help with sizing if you are curious.
Happiest of birthday's to my dad! One of the greatest men alive. You are always there when I need you and gave me the best life growing up. You always were teaching me, always giving me life lessons that have helped me today. Kara and I are blessed to call you dad. You are also a fantastic Pop to our kids. I hope today is awesome and I love you!
The Texas State Fair has just announced their newest additions and boy are they a doozy. Look over them and let me know what you are excited about or think sounds awful!
I am upset the fish bowl has pineapples (since I am allergic) so I won't be having that one. Bobby and I did agree that the ONE we must get is the Froot Loop one! But most of them this year are pretty amazing. I have been disappointed to past couple of years but this year has really stepped it up.
So So So excited right now. Demi Lovato is back with round 2 collaboration with Fabletics. And this time, it's even cuter (didn't think it was possible!)
Take a look at some of my favs and then head on over and buy!
And this is just the beginning! Ahhh....I am dying over here! And someone very special gave me money to Fabletics for my birthday so if you'll excuse me, MOMMA IS GOING SHOPPING!
One year ago today I became a stay at home mom. I had no idea driving home that day, the day I got let go, I would actually enjoy being a stay at home mom. To me, it seemed like the worst. I had always worked. I started working at 14 and I had never not known it. It was such a culture shock the first couple of weeks but then something changed in me. It was like over night and my mind couldn't fathom the idea of going back to work. Like just the thought of not seeing him everyday, being with him, watching him grow made me sick to my stomach. And that's when I knew that this is what I had been working my whole life for. That this little creature was/is what life is about. I am super blessed to be a stay at home mom and I tell people all the time.
Things I have learned: Reasons I have grown: People I have met: Things I have gotten to do:
*I have learned patience. The art of patience is a hard thing. And I don't always succeed (like yesterday) but I have more patience today then I did a year ago.
*I have learned to laugh at the smallest things. I laugh so many times a day at Brody. Even in this terrible two stage, he still can make me laugh. I feel like I use to be so uptight about things and now, I let things roll of my back and laugh.
*I feel like I have grown into a better person. I have more respect for people in general. I know what its like to work and have a child and I know how hard it is to be a stay at home mom. It's not easy and I use to think it was. I use to think it wasn't a job. But y'all, it is a 24/7 job. With no holidays. No time off. And NO PAY!
*I have found myself again. I have had more time for the blog and I have had more time for myself. His nap time is my time and I take full advantage of it.
*If it wasn't for deciding to not to go back to work, I would have never met Gabby and Miguel. And that by far is reason enough these days. I also wouldn't have met our friends at The Little Gym nor would we have met Lina and Isabel. Finding other stay at home moms has been very important and very rewarding.
*Brody and I get to do whatever we want during the day. We can go explore wherever. We can go see anything. I can give him the opportunity to experience life before he has to start school. I feel like I have the biggest part in his learning/growing so it's incredibly important for him to experience things.
If for some reason you are on the fence about becoming a stay at home mom, I am here to tell you to do it. If it works for your family and your husband supports it, do it! It's not easy...but it's highly rewarding! Getting to experience things through my child's eyes is the best. I never imagined my life like this year ago...but we don't always know God's plans. We just have to have faith that it all works out and trust that he knows what he is doing!
Also for the record...I am totally not bashing women who work or chose to put their child in daycare. You who work and are moms- you are Wonder Women to me! I have nothing but huge respect for what you do.
Ever heard of a tee of the month club? Where you pay a monthly price and you are sent a new shirt but you have no idea what it's going to look like or be? I actually love this idea because I can just give my info once and I am done. I know something cute and comfy and stylish will be coming for me once a month and I don't have to worry about wasting my time shopping around. Plus you save money by doing this options, especially if you know you are going to buy anyways!
WellFord and Wyatt offers this deal. This was last months shirt (which is still available for purchase and you for sure want it).
It's super soft, super durable and I love the meaning. In today's world right now, coming together and being one as mom's is what I am all about. United together, united as mothers, sticking together and helping one another.
And this month's shirt is #momlife. United Motherhood was considered last months shirt but for my readers she is allowing that shirt to qualify. Just tell her in the comments at check out that Dani mentioned it on her blog, that you would like the united motherhood shirt and if she has it available in the size that you need, she will hook you up!
You can search all of her other clothing options here. She has little love shirts available too!
Gabby and Miguel got back from Colombia and Lina's family that was in town for a while left so the gang was back together! They missed (and I missed) our bff's like crazy!
one. These 3!
The three best friends. The three amigos. I love them all dearly. All 3 are so different but that's what works for them.
two. First Kiss
Totally innocent and totally precious. Yes I encouraged it and Lina's daddy wasn't very happy with me but come on! They are so incredibly cute.
three. Splash time
Klyde Warren is so much fun and these kiddos had a blast! I got great photos and it wasn't terrible till about 11:15 when it got super hot and crowded.
four. Lucky
They have fun together and us mom's have fun together. Brody and I are very lucky to have Gabby/Miguel and Lina/Isabel!
five. Blessed
Ok not the kiddos but it's me and my kid and I just love him and his adventurous ways.
