The People vs O.J. Simpson

I am so in love with this new series. I remember the first time I saw the commercial, it was during American Horror Story and Bobby and I usually fast forward through commercials. We just happen to not be paying attention and both looked up at the same time to see it. You could have heard a pin drop. We both looked at each other and smiled. I had goosebumps on my arms. And every time that commercial came on, we both stopped what we were doing to watch.

So it finally is here and OMG....I love it.

The first thing I did was go to IMDB and look up who was playing who. Whoever did the casting for this show deserves an award. The only person who does not look like the actual person they are playing is O.J.. Cuba Gooding JR is a beautiful actor but he is much smaller than what O.J. is. That bothered me at first. How are you going to make the lead person the least look like person to look like them? After about 10 minutes into the first show I forgot all about it. Just shows you how well an actor can play a part that it makes you forget that you doubted them in the first place!
According to some websites, each episode is going to deal with one thing at a time. The murder, the Bronco, the lawyers, the trial, the witnesses, the evidence, the jury, the verdict, the aftermath. Jeffrey Toobin, author of the book "Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson" which the show is based off, actually believed that O.J. was guilty but felt that the producers didn't want the series to be about innocent or guilty, but how the events unfolded and why they arrived at the not guilty verdict. Which puts a really cool spin to the show. It also takes a look at racism, feminism and how famous people are treated differently by the law.

O.J. Simpson played by Cuba Gooding Jr.

Robert Shapiro played by John Travolta

Marcia Clark played by Sarah Paulson

Robert Kardashian played by David Schwimmer

Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran

Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden

Judge Lance Ito played by Kenneth Choi

Bruce Greenwood as Gil Garcetti

F. Lee Bailey played by Nathan Lane

Christian Clemenson as Bill Hodgman

Kris Kardashian/Jenner played by Selma Blair

Kato Kaelin played by Billy Magnussen

I know he was acquitted of the charges but the evidence they are showing based off this show makes me personally think he is guilty! Oh well. I always say what goes around comes around and karma is a bitch because O.J. is in prison where he belongs for robbery of all things.
Did you know that he was arrested for that crime exactly 13 years to the day he was acquitted of the murders?
And in that off chance he is innocent for the murders, because in the eyes of the court he is, then who did it? It's like who shot Tupac and Biggie......
The world may never know.

American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson airs Tuesday nights on FX at 9pm central.

27 weeks

How old? 27 weeks

Likes? Blueberries and Bananas

Hates? When he can't get to a certain place in the speed he would like

Milestones this week? Crawling. Well scooting across the floor. Once this kid gets something, he does his best to master it quick. One night he is just laying on the floor and the next night he is moving himself. He loves that he can get somewhere now. He does get frustrated pretty fast when he can't get to something quick enough, but he is enjoying the freedom. B and I just let him have as much space as he wants. And that walker of his is just a place for him to have free range. He has discovered drawers in the kitchen and he loves to run over the trash can. He can be in it and be in the kitchen with us and move about with us.

Sleeping? The past couple of days, Brody has slept in his bed for his afternoon nap. This is a big deal. I will take him in there at 3, give him a 6oz bottle and rock him for about 5/10 minutes. Then I would lay him in his bed and he would sleep for about an hour and 1/2. THIS IS A BIG DEAL! I am hoping we are on the right track for this. Sleeping has been the biggest issue with this kid. Doctor says that some kids just don't need a lot of sleep or aren't comfortable sleeping on their own. That there is nothing wrong it. We as adults think there is a certain way for kids to do things and that isn't always the case.

Eating? I really wanted to wait to start fruit. I was in no rush to do it. But the doctor told me last week to go ahead and start them. That they are good for him and for allergy reasons, he needs to have them. BUT momma's rule is he HAS to have his veggies first, then he can have his fruit.

Super Bowl

Well....Cam didn't win and that's ok because the Bronco's really stepped up their game and Manning just killed it. And congrats to you for having 200 winning games and being the highest winning quarterback of all time. And if you do decide to retire this year, I wish you well. You seem like an incredible man, someone men of all ages should look up to.

But enough about the actual football game.....I want to get to what was really awesome about last night.

1) Lady Gaga- I have no idea why she did the national anthem and not performed half time but whatever. I love Gaga.....like LOVE her. She's brilliant, beautiful and can sing so good. She killed the national anthem. With her red jumpsuit and sparkly red eye shadow, she even had blue fingernails. Just everything screamed America. She looked amazing, she sounded even better. If you missed it, here it is below.

2) Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce- I have to be honest, when I heard Coldplay was doing the halftime show, I was a little skeptical. Yes, they are great and have great songs but I just didn't think they could rock it. Boy was I WRONG! Then you add a little Uptown Funk and Bey to the mix....Brody and I couldn't stop dancing. Speaking of Brody, he loves music and was captivated by their performances. He watched the whole thing, even as I was jumping around with him. But what I loved so very much was the reminiscing of the past 50 years of halftime performers. That was just creatively done. If you missed it, here it is below.

3) The commercials- I wait every year for the commericals. They are my favorite part. And I always usually go peak to see what will be this year. But I didn't do it this year. I wanted them to be a surprise for myself. So I taped the Super Bowl in my bedroom and after putting Brody down for the night, I went in and rewatched all the commercials. Have to say.....was a little disappointed in them. It was a bunch of movie trailers which was cool but I can look up movie trailers any time I want. I made notes and I wrote down that I liked 16 of them. And you might be thinking, Dani....thats a lot! But not really when you think about how many commercial breaks there are and at 3 commercials during each break, that's really not that many. Was anyone else disappointed that there wasn't a Clydesdale commercial? Yes, I know Bud did a commercial and they were kind of featured in it but I wait every year for the Budweiser commercial, it always makes me cry. So I was upset with that.

Here are the 16 I liked the best:

Kevin Hart- First Date- Hyundai Genesis

Avocados from Mexico

Michelob- Breathe

Doritos- Ultrasound

Mountain Dew- PuppyMonkeyBaby

Squarespace- Real Talk with Key and Peele

Bud Light- Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen

T-Mobile- Drop the ball with Steve Harvey

Hyundai- Ryan Reynolds

Coke Mini- Hulk vs Ant-Man

Amazon Echo- Alec Baldwin

Jeep- Portraits

Doritos- Dogs in supermarket

Heinz- Meet the ketchups

Honda Ridgeline- Sheep

Budweiser- Helen Mirren Give a Damn

If I have to pick my top favorites, I would pick Heinz, Doritos Dog, Honda Sheep and Jeep. I feel those 4 really nailed it and I will remember for years to come.
What commercial(s) was your favorite?

6 months old

How old? 6 months and 1 day (I can't believe my baby is having his 1/2 birthday!)

Weight? 20..13 pounds (89 percentile)

Length? 27..75 inches (92 percentile)

Likes? Mickey Mouse Club, his walker, his puppies, kisses, hugs, laughing, being held, being cuddled, his picture taken

Dislikes? Being alone, going into a room full of people in someone else's arms other than mine, zucchini, when you don't feed him fast enough, when he has been in one spot to long

Eating? He really has taken a liking to so many foods. This month alone we have tried broccoli, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, zucchini, mashed potatoes, puffs, rice, Goldfish, icing, protein shake. He has mastered the sippy cup as well. I give him water when he eats his lunch and dinner. I want him to know the importance of water and that's what we get at eating time. Not milk or juice.

Sleeping? He slept through the night once! I felt like a whole new women the next day. He still likes to sleep on me which is a bad habit but one I love. And with the teething, it just makes it easier. Almost every morning Brody ends up in bed with us. It's always after 7am and he sleeps so good, we all do actually. I usually have my hand on his face or on his stomach or sometimes he will hold onto my fingers. We have a great night time routine for him, one he follows beautifully and this month I am going to start adding in a small book at night, before his bath.

Awake? All the time! haha jk. But seriously, this kid is with me 24/7 except for when I am at work or he's asleep in his bed. But look at that face......I just can't get enough!

Milestones? We officially have a tooth and working on the second one. I am already so tired of drool. It gets all over him, all over me. Brody is about 95% the way of sitting up for a long period of time by himself. Each day he gets better and better. He usually doesn't fall backwards, he usually falls forward or to the side but these past couple of days I noticed I can put him on his floor with some toys and come back a few minutes later and he is still sitting there.

Anything new? It's been a quiet month for us. Which is nice since the holidays were so hectic.

How's mom and dad? We are doing good. Date nights don't exist anymore/yet but we've learned that it is important to take time for one another and even though we don't get to go on dates, we try our best to make it work at home. Like we still eat take out on Friday nights with some wine. We just do it in our PJ's with a baby in a walker, talking around us. We find time after he goes down at night to just sit with each other and talk. Bobby works so hard during the day for work, that sometimes he just needs a quiet moment to let it all out. I cherish these moments with him since our life is ran by a monster!

How Dash and Bullet? They are great. Dash is Brody's snuggle buddy for sure and both dogs love to lick Brody, especially in the mouth. I hate it. Dash got in a fight with a skunk this month and it took Bobby close to 2 hours to get him bathed and smelling ok. Sometimes I will smell the stink on him and Dash's breathe has not been the same so I really try hard to stop Dash from licking Brody.

Extra photos?
One of my favorites of my men. Gotta teach em young about the discipline of hard work and determination and who best to teach my son than the love of my life.

Purllamb is one of my favorite spots to shop for Brody. They make the best hoodie outfits for kids. SERIOUSLY. Them, Emerald Sky and June and January are my addictions for baby clothes for him. And their spring lines are about to get released. I have been saving up!

My sweet momma and her boy! My mom officially started this past month keeping him at my house and they have been having the best time. He's a handful so I know he wears her out by Tuesday afternoon but I am starting to see a sweet bond between them. He loves giving her hugs and snuggling up on her. My mom is the best at that!

This kid! Ugh. All he is missing is a something with the Mavericks and Stars and he would be set for covering all the Dallas teams. I love him in hats, they just don't make snap backs for kids his age. Which they should so they can grow with them. And if you by chance know where I can get him a snap back with the Cowboys or some sort of sports team on it, please let me know!

You will usually find him with either his hands or his foot in his mouth. Everything goes to the mouth!

Favorite photo this month? I have 2. This first one just sums up my kid. Smile on his face, shiny blue eyes and close to momma's heart. The second one was my attempt to take a family photo. Didn't work out so well but I love it more because of it.

Landry Kate Smith

Dear Diary,

So normally I would be doing Brody's 6th month post but today is a little more special than that (I will be doing it tomorrow).

Today is this precious girl of mine's 7th birthday! 7!!!!!!!!!!

I love her so much. She makes me laugh, is incredible sweet, a great big sister even though she annoys him, she LOVES Brody as if he was her own baby. If it wasn't for her, I may not be a mom today. I have always had a very special connection to her and I cherish it to no end. I just know she is going to be something great when she gets older. Rather it be a teacher or a politician, the girl is going to rule at whatever she does. She is incredibly smart, very witty, emotional and full of life. And on top of all of that, she's beautiful. SO BEAUTIFUL with a heart of gold!

Landry Kate Smith-
Happy Birthday beautiful girl. I love you so very much. You changed my whole world the day I first held you. You brought a whole new life and a whole new love I had never experienced before. I pray you keep that kind heart and funny personality that I love so much. I will always be here for you, no matter what. I hope you have a great day and I can't wait to celebrate you!

Love, Ninny

To my mother in law

Happy Birthday to my very sweet mother in law, Debbie. What an incredible mother in law you are. Some girls don't get so lucky in that department. You are kind, sweet, smart, loving, take care of everyone else before yourself, love to no end, keep your family grounded and put up with my father in law, Bill Lewis! I love you so very much and so glad Brody (and Colton, Kent, Billie and Jace) have you as a grandmother.

26 weeks

How old? 26 weeks

Likes? Sweet potatoes and carrots

Hates? Zucchini, like won't eat anything that has it in it. Turns his face and screams.

Milestones this week? He has really mastered his walker. You put him in it and away he goes. He isn't very good at steering himself and runs into everything but if he has a long stretch of space, those legs just take off. My poor toes have been run over so many times and if the dogs aren't paying attention, they get ran over.

Sleeping? He is doing better at sleeping, except now he seems to have a small cold. So he wakes up a little congested and stuffy. We go to his 6 month appointment on Thursday and I am afraid she is going to tell me it's his ears again. Poor kid might be getting tubes.

Eating? He loves to eat. Since I make his baby food, it has been a fun experiment seeing him try new things and watching him chew. He is extremely good at chewing, never just swallows or chokes. He loves his puffs, he's even tried a very small piece of a Goldfish (the amount of yumms that came out of his mouth made me laugh so hard). When I go to his doctor this week, I am going to see what else she will clear him for to eat. His whole world is about to open up for him with food and I can't wait to hear the yumms.

Grease is the word

Did y'all watch Grease Live last night?

I sure did and I just want to say how awesome it was. I thought everyone did an amazing job and how each character was like the original characters. Julianne Hough as Sandy was the best casting EVER and I was a little hesitant on Aaron Tveit as Danny but he really held his own. Like he made Danny his own character without taking anything away from John Travolta. The music was great, the dancing was even better. And mad props to Vanessa Hudgens who lost her dad the night before to cancer for getting out there and killing it. Lord was she an amazing Rizzo.

Best moments of Grease Live:
*Vanessa's remake of There Are Worst Things I Could Do was simply breathtaking. She laid her whole heart out there and gave such a performance.
*Born To Hand Jive Baby....that whole scene was so much fun to watch and it took everything I had to not get off my couch and do the hand jive with them.
*It was all done live....like nothing was pre taped except for the bowing at the end of all the people in front of Rydell High. I read that each person had 2 minutes to get changed and to the next set before they were on again.
*The choreography
*The singing ability of everyone was just great. No one seemed to hit a bad note or did I feel like I wanted more from someone
*The fact that they used a mix diversity of people and not just white people. I have to say....I kind of like it better with the mixture of colors.

Worst moments of Grease Live:
*Audio problems- Durning the hand jive, my TV volume went out and I thought it was my TV so I rewound Grease to see if that helped and it did it again at the same part so my mom and I just sat there and about 15 seconds later the volume came back on. Come to find out, it wasn't my TV. It was the actual production. Guess that's what happens when you are live!
*So don't hate me but Mario Lopez.....just wasn't feeling it. Could have found a better casting in my opinion.
*The car race....even though it was a very clever way of having a car race, it looked super fake. And I understand how hard it would have been live to do that but....I don't know.
*Freddy My Love by Keke as Marty and the random song by Carly as Frenchie called All I Need Is An Angel. My mom and I fast forward because A) don't even know the song Carly sang and come to find out it was an all new song they added in and B) Freddy My Love is barely played in the original Grease and I didn't even remember it being in the original. Had to look it up.
*Jesse J.....enough said

Worth mentioning:
These 2 ladies below. I laughed every time they were on the screen together. They really captured the principal and her crazy assistant.

Overall it was just a really great performance and I would seriously sit down and watch it again. Grease is one of my all time favorite movies so this had some pretty big shoes to fill. All I have been doing today is singing Grease songs.
