Eight on Friday

Yeah Yeah Yeah....I know it's usually five but I couldn't narrow down my favorites from Galveston so there's eight!

one. Moose and his Pop
My dad was a great help to me. He doesn't get to see his Moose a lot so when he does, he is all about that kid of mine. And by the end of the trip, they were best friends.

two. Jax
So we know Brody loves dogs. But he hasn't been able to spend much time with Jax yet. To say they hit it off was an understatement. How precious is this?

three. Hayden
For those of you who have not gotten the pleasure of meeting Hayden, you are missing out. His personality is like nothing I've seen. He's FUNNY and the things that come out of his mouth have me so in love with him. He is all about super heroes and has a new power each day. He loves to sing. My dad decided to stay home that evening with Brody so I could enjoy a dinner without a 19 month old child so I chose Hayden to sit across from. He kept me entertained all night!

four. The Weddel girls
Of all the nights, of all the places, the Weddel's happen to be going to the same restaurant as us! How beautiful are they? Quick backstory for those who don't know: I was Campbell's nanny for years. She was even one my flower girls. But then she went off to school and no longer needed a full time nanny. When Tiffany got pregnant with the twins, Charlie and Henley, she asked me to come back to be their nanny and even asked me to be Godmother to Charlie. I was with them till I got married. To see where these girls are in life just melted me. Campbell will be going to Junior High next year and wants to do band and volleyball and the twins will be in second grade next year and love playing soccer and are really good from what I can tell. I love you Weddel family!

five. Landry
Landry was such a big help to me in Galveston. She helped with Brody whenever she could. He is like her baby and she just adores him. Not as much as I adore her, but that's why being an aunt is super fun! Landry has no idea how beautiful she is. She has a kind spirit about her and doesn't like upsetting people and I love that about her.

six. Him
Brody Daniel Lewis. He just has no idea the amount of love I have for him nor will he ever understand it. By the end of the trip, we had mastered the art of eating at a restaurant. But this place was probably our favorite. Fisherman's Wharf. Their bread alone is to die for. Brody ate 3 pieces of it and then proceeded to eat the rest of Hayden's baked potato! We got to sit outside this evening and everything was just perfect about it. I got the lobster and crawfish pasta dish and y'all....just order it!

seven. Boys
Hayden loves his Brobee. But he doesn't like when Brobee takes his stuff nor eats off his plate. And my kid is notorious for doing both. But at the end of the day, Hayden is a great example for Brody. He is sweet and kind and funny and if this is who Brody looks up to, we are miles ahead. I think they had a great time together.

eight. The Big Three
My This Is Us friends with understand that. I love this picture because it just reminds me how blessed I am. How blessed I get to call them family. They might fight and not get a long sometimes but they all love each other and I pray they have a close relationship.

Dear Diary,

Day 1 and Day 4 of my Galveston trip was pretty much a car ride down and back. We didn't do much except drive.

But on day 2 of my Spring Break Galveston trip, my sister had planned a fun trip to Kemah. Kemah is kind of like a boardwalk meets fair. It's about 30 mins north of Galveston and so much fun. I wish we had a Kemah close because Brody and I would spend a lot of time (and money) there. Everything is outdoors. It over looks the water. There are rides and games and lots of restaurants to fit any budget. There is a playground, a concert stage and water spouts. I only got 2 photos but was able to pull a photo from the website of the whole place.

It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend taking your family there. The rides do cost (starting at $4 a piece and going up depending on which ride you choose) so be prepared for that. We ate at Cadillac Bar and probably one of my favorites places to eat. They had warm salsa, amazing food and even the children's plates came on like old fashion lunch trays! They were very accommodating to my stroller and the fact we had 3 children, so our food came out fast.

I had such a great time in Galveston with my family. It was tough being there without Bobby, since Brody didn't sleep well nor nap and he wouldn't let anyone really hold him much except me so to say I was tired was an understatement BUT watching him with Kara, Hayden and Landry, seeing him cuddle my mom while she sang to him, seeing him laugh with my dad....that's what I hang on to. That's the memories I have from this trip!

National Water Day

Today is National Water Day.

You may not realize how little drinking water we actually have in this world. In the US, we have more benefits on how we get our water. But in every other country, water is like gold. And a lot of people actually die due to lack of water. Something so simple as water, can kill you if you don't have enough. It's a fact that 1.5 million children die every year due to water related illness.

I have found this great Non-Profit Organization called Drop4Drop and they believe that everyone, everywhere has the right to clean water. I highly agree.

Their website says this about them "Drop4drop funds sustainable clean water solutions to countries that need it most. We demand accountable, effective and efficient provision of clean water.

How do we achieve this? We employ local labourers and heavily involve the community in the project creating a sense of ownership and pride. We also provide maintenance training and hygiene education to ensure maximum longevity. Every project we undertake provides clean water to a community of over 1000 people who have never before had this privilege."

Consider donating. As little as $3 can give someone drinking water. Instead of your second Starbucks run (I understand the need for coffee) donate that $3 to someone who needs it to live. Who shouldn't have to walk miles just to get clean water.

I am not donating to be flashy.
I am not donating to be showy.
I am not donating to shove it in people's face.

I AM donating because if I can give water to just one child, if my small donation can support someone, that's what matters. That's what's important. Giving back. One small gesture can mean more to someone than we know.

This is not a paid advertisement. I am not given anything in return for my promotion. I solely decide who I support.

Bayou Wildlife Zoo

Last week, as you might know, I was on Spring Break. My family (minus the husbands) drove down to Galveston for a few days. My sister had each day planned out (one thing I LOVE about her, I never have to plan anything) and on day 3, had planned for us to go to a zoo.

But not any zoo. A Wildlife petting zoo. And why start on day 3 of the trip, because it was my favorite and you all need to plan a trip to this zoo.

It is $20 (for adults) and $10 (for kids 2-11) to get in and children under 2 are free. It is $2 for a bucket of food and they give you A LOT of food in the bucket. At Bayou Wildlife Zoo, you get a safari-like adventure throughout the park to get up close and personal with the animals. They have everything from buffalo to ostriches to giraffes to a white rhino. They have deer, a longhorn, crocodiles and even some animals I had never even heard of. All of these animals are rescued from some sort of situation, never just brought over for viewing. The man that opened this place is a billionaire and bought all this property for this reason.

I took a lot of video so if you happen to follow me on Instagram, you might have saw. And I wish there was a way to upload all those videos so you could actually see what it was like. Luckily my sister is better at getting pictures than me so she was kind enough to share ones she got.

My favorite thing was the buffalo coming up to us and eating out of Brody's hand. My least favorite thing was the Ostriches. I HATE Ostriches. Like with a passion. They are mean and nasty and could peck my eyes out or peck at my brain at any minute. You can ask my poor family how I was almost in tears at one point because I was so scared of them.

I had given Brody peanut butter crackers and I totally wasn't thinking how some animals just get to roam freely and when I turned, this deer was eating out of the Brody's stroller. I am not sure if he actually at the crackers or was just licking what was left over but what was so cool is my son just sat there. Never scared, never afraid. Prolly would have asked me to take it home if he could talk.

The big kids got to horseback ride. It wasn't for very long but it was fun for them.

The Petting Zoo was also fun. Goats and pigs is all I can remember but I was chasing a 19 month old, so I don't remember if there was anything else.

If you are traveling to Houston or Galveston, you should really make this a place to visit. Especially if your kids like animals. You can bring a sack lunch and eat it there. They have a very friendly staff and was just a lot of fun. Make sure to bring cash or check because they do not take credit card.

The Walking Dead Monday

Before we get started, can we talk about last weeks episode, Bury Me Here! Holy Cow that was as a good episode and so much happened and I do apologize if you come here every week to read these and realized I was on Spring Break. All I want to say is RIP Benjamin....literally broke my heart to see you die but I do Love what it did to Morgan. Morgan is one of my favorite characters and I love how that death turned him into something else. Am I sad he killed Richard? Not at all. He needed to die! Oh and now Carol is ready to go fight and knows the truth. It's about time all these cards start to get in a line in defeating Negan.

OK so back to this weeks The Walking Dead.

Reviewing: TWD: Season 7: Episode 14: The Other Side

SPOILERS AHEAD! If you have not watched or don't want to know what happened, STOP reading now.

Tonight's episode starts with Maggie at Hilltop teaching the people how to throw knives into a piece of wood. Sasha is sharping up her knife and looking sad. We see a sonogram of Maggie's baby and everything looks good. Enid makes Maggie some food as Maggie writes in her journal. Sasha is practicing her knife skills and teaching people how to use them. Jesus is scribbling something on a piece of paper and hands it to Sasha. It is the lay out of The Sanctuary. At dinner that evening, Maggie sees Daryl sitting by himself and she walks over to him to bring him some food. They don't speak. The next morning, we see Gregory looking out the window of Maggie talking with people. He drinks and sits down. As he looks out another window we see Rosita come in the gate. She walks over to Sasha and says she needs her help. * Maggie and Jesus are talking about how they feel like they belong here when Sasha walks up on them. Maggie walks away and Sasha goes inside the home and opens a book where bullets are hidden. Jesus and Enid walk in on her and ask her how she got a gun. She says Rosita. Jesus ask her not to go. Sasha says she is still going. Enid tells her she needs to tell Maggie and she says no. Rosita is going with or without her, so she's going. Maggie needs Jesus and Enid to help her, protect her. Jesus ask her of one thing, to talk to Maggie because they owe it to her. Sasha tells Enid that Maggie is the future of this place, so is Enid. Sasha gives her something to hold on to for her, it's for the baby. Enid tells Sasha that in 10 minutes she is telling Maggie, do with it what you want. Just as Enid comes out, a man starts banging that The Saviors are here. Daryl says they need to find Maggie and take off running. Enid hides them in a storm cellar. Sasha and Rosita make it out before The Saviors find them. Simon comes in and says hi to Gregory. Gregory ask Simon if he wants to go talk in their office, he has a bottle of Gin. Simon says he's a tequila guy. Simon says he is here for someone. Gregory ask who. Maggie and Daryl are hiding and find a deeper hole to hide in. Rosita and Sasha make it out ok and take off to find Negan. * Rosita is trying to start a car and notices Sasha necklace she made for Abraham. They can't get the car started so leave. They come up to another car and Sasha ask her how she knew how to disable a bomb. She said she knew someone. Rosita says she's not here to make friends. Sasha tells her her idea how they sit afar and sniper him. Rosita says no, they go in. Sasha says they won't get a second chance if they go in. A man is walking by the cellar and Enid comes over and try's to ask his help in carrying veggies. He corrects her by saying vegetables. Then he ask for her knife. He opens the cellar and looks around. Maggie notices he has Enid's knife and holds back her anger. Simon goes to see doctor Carson and tells him that Negan wants him and Carson ask why he needs two. Simon says they don't and stares at him. Carson realizes the other doctor was killed. He tells Gregory that his stuff is in order and what to do. Gregory agrees. Simon leaves them with a crate full of Aspirin. Gregory wants to talk to Simon outside. Gregory is afraid that his people will cause in upright and someone else might take over. He ask who and Gregory says hypothetical. Simon says he can come to him always and gives him a piece of paper saying to give that to the guard and he will let him in. * Maggie and Daryl are still hiding and the man keeps taking the food they have stored. Daryl goes to kill him because he get's close to their hiding spot and Maggie stops him. The man leaves. They come out and Maggie makes a comment about how he was going to kill him and Daryl says he deserves to die. Maggie says he hasn't said a word to her this whole time he's been here and to please look at her. He turns to her and starts crying and says I'm sorry. She say's it wasn't his fault. And she wanted to kill that guy too. But they have to wait and then hugs him. She ask him to help her win. Negan's men leave with the doctor and supplies. Sasha and Rosita come across walkers and light a car on fire to distract them. They climb over the fence and try to find a car to start. Rosita gets one and Sasha gets in. * We see Sasha looking through a sniper rifle at The Sanctuary. She sees Eugene ordering people around. Rosita is tying knots in a rope and Sasha ask her to teach her. She shows her how. Rosita looks through the rifle to see Eugene. Sasha compliments her on how she knows how to do everything. She tells her a story of the men she had in her life and how they taught her things they didn't realize they were teaching her. Sasha ask her about Abraham. She says she fell for him because he understood she could handle herself and he liked that. She gets upset because she won't ever get to tell him she was happy he was happy. They agree that it wasn't his time and how the man with the bat took that from them. They tell each other they have each others back. Sasha gets up to look through rifle and sees the cars pulling up. They notice the doctor and Negan comes out. She keeps trying to get a clean shot but can't. He makes it back inside and they hear Eugene on the walkie talkie that they needed more walkers and to bring them that evening. Sasha looks at Rosita and says change of plans. Rosita says we go in. * Gregory is in his office when Jesus comes in. Gregory says he has too many people in his trailer and gives him a list of jobs for the new people. Gregory threatens Jesus and says he can leave now. As Jesus is leaving the house, Daryl comes in and ask where Sasha and Rosita are. Back at The Sanctuary, Eugene is talking to a man about the walkers and the safety of the perimeter when a sniper shot takes out the man. Eugene falls to the ground and Rosita tells him to get up, she came to help him. He says no, he didn't ask her to come and runs back in. Rosita gets her gun to watch for walkers and others so Sasha can open the fence more but when Rosita looks back, Sasha blocks her out. She tells her that the group needs her and to go. Sasha takes off killing people. Rosita runs and when she stops, she sees the shadow of what looks like Daryl standing there.

Main points for this week show:

  • So we never saw Sasha get killed but we assume so right? Hence giving Enid the necklace, the speech she gave Rostia before taking off, all those men running out the door at the end. I hope not because I love Sasha but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the last time we saw her.
  • I love that Maggie doesn't blame Daryl and let him know it. Glenn's death has been eating him alive and to hear it from Maggie about how she never blamed him, I think was the butt kick he needed.
  • Is it just me or does Jesus and Maggie have a flirtation going on? I know Maggie will not move on and if she does it will be awhile, but I got a flirty vibe from them.
  • Can someone kill Gregory already? He is such a weasel and has no idea how to lead those people. I know in the comics Maggie ends up being the leader of Hilltop so I am just sitting here, patently waiting for them to make that come true.
  • I have never been a big Rosita fan. She always has an attitude, always wants to kill, she never likes anyone and the one person she did, died. So to hear her story, to hear how the group needs her from Sasha's point of view made me think a little bit more about her. I just wonder where they are going to take her character now because of what Sasha did.
  • Is Eugene really gone to the dark side or is he just so afraid of Negan, he doesn't want to do anything wrong? I can't figure him out yet. He likes it there it seems because he tells people what to do, instead of being told what to do. As soon as he saw Rosita, he turned into a big baby, unlike the Eugene Negan knows.

Feel free to leave comments, thoughts and/or ideas on what you liked, loved, hated or think might happen.

Spring Break

I do apologize but with packing and saying goodbye to very good friends last night (him and her are going to Korea for 2 years for him to serve our country, so that was much more important) I was not able to watch The Walking Dead and I leave this morning for Spring Break to Galveston with Brody.

I do hope you all have a wonderful week and when I get back and watch The Walking Dead I will do my post on it. Thank you for understanding!

Five on Friday

one. Vacuum
We had a fun play date with Miguel this week and Brody is not shy at people's home. If you ever have Brody and I over, just know he is going to raid your pantry and your cleaning supplies. And he did just that. He found Gabby's vacuum and proceed to vacuum her living room. He DID NOT get this from me. I sent this picture to Bobby and he just laughed and wrote back "That's my boy!"

two. Starbucks
Iced Cinnamon Almond-milk Macchiato is my NEW favorite drink right now. I have gotten 3 this week. If you like cold coffee, try it. It is seriously delicious and refreshing. I need Brody to wake from his nap so I can go get me another one.

three. Hand-prints
How cute is this? After the boys painted the other day, Gabby suggested we get their hand-prints and I was so glad she did. Brody loved painting and having me paint his hand for this. He just giggled.

four. Sprinkles
Sprinkles has a new cupcake right now that is a chocolate chip cookie made into a cupcake. It has cookie crumble on bottom, chocolate chip cake in the middle and a brown sugar frosting dusted with cookie pieces. I love when he gets me Sprinkles because we all know this is the way to my heart! The cookie one will gone at the end of March.

five. My guy
His face. His style. The way he smiles at me. I just can't most days with him. He gets what he wants but he is so damn sweet about it. Did I mention his face?

Brody and I will be going out of town next week so there will be no blog except for The Walking Dead Monday. It will be posted super early and then nothing the rest of the week. I hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break and see you the following week!

Love, Me

Dear Diary,

I've been asked how I came about having my Dear Diary days and I thought I would answer that question.

My Dear Diary days use to be on Tuesday's but after I had Brody and he was born on a Tuesday, I changed Tuesday's to his weekly updates and moved Dear Diary to Thursday's.

But the reason I started Dear Diary days was because once a week I felt like I needed to vent. I needed to get things off my chest. Say what I felt in an atmosphere I could feel comfortable with. And what more than MY blog. I know some people don't agree with things I say or feel and that is fine. I highly respect people's opinions because Lord knows I have a lot. I needed some place to just jot it all down. Get it out. I was having some anger issues, having some mixed emotions about things and I felt if I didn't get them out, I might explode. So that is how Dear Diary days came about. Not every Dear Diary day is the same. Sometimes birthdays or anniversary's or monthly updates fall on Thursday and that is fine. I still write the Dear Diary and the Love, Me.

The Love, Me is something I write because of a song called Love, Me by Collin Raye. It is something I write in all my cards/letters to Bobby. If the person knows who the gift is from, I write it. It's a song that has a lot of meaning to me for some reason. Like even if someone you love leaves this world and goes to heaven, it doesn't mean it's the last time you see them. I truly believe in that and I think this song just reminds me of that. That no matter what holds me up, no matter what keeps me down, I will make my way to you in the very end.

If you have never heard of the song or can't quite remember it is.

Here are the lyrics:
I read a note my Grandma wrote back in nineteen twenty-three.
Grandpa kept it in his coat, and he showed it once to me.
He said, "Boy you might not understand, but a long, long time ago,
Grandma's daddy didn't like me none, but I loved your Grandma so."

We had this crazy plan to meet and run away together.
Get married in the first town we came to, and live forever.
But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet, instead.
I found this letter and this is what it said:

If you get there before I do, don't give up on me.
I'll meet you when my chores are through;
I don't know how long I'll be.
But I'm not gonna let you down, darling wait and see.
And between now and then, till I see you again,
I'll be loving you.
Love, Me.

I read those words just hours before my Grandma passed away,
In the doorway of a church where me and Grandpa stopped to pray.
I know I'd never seen him cry in all my fifteen years;
But as he said these words to her, his eyes filled up with tears.

If you get there before I do, don't give up on me.
I'll meet you when my chores are through;
I don't know how long I'll be.
But I'm not gonna let you down, darling wait and see.
And between now and then, till I see you again,
I'll be loving you.
Love, Me.
Between now and then, till I see you again,
I'll be loving you.
Love, Me

Women's Day

Happy International Women's Day.

I don't know about you but I think every day should be this. haha

Today I think about the women in my life who inspire me:
My mom Janet.
My sister Kara.
My sister-in-laws Angie and Kristen.
My mother-in-law Debbie.
My best friends Julie and Gabby.
My friends Becca and Jasmine.
My grandmothers Barbara and Margie.
My grandmother-in-law Margie.
My aunts Diane and Karen.
My aunt-in-laws Lori and Cindy.
My cousin Stephanie.
My trainers Betsy and Meg.
My girlfriends in Swink Sweat class.
Moms out there who give more than get back everyday!

All of these women push me to be better. Are there for me no matter what. Look over me. Take care of me. Love me. Fight for me. Tell me how it is. Drink wine with me. Make me laugh till I can't breathe. Let me bitch to them. Allow me to be myself. They never try to change me or tell me to be something I am not.

I love all of you and today (and everyday) I celebrate you!

And not only do I celebrate you, I celebrate myself! Because I am women, hear me roar (or something like that)!

19 months

How old? 19 months and 3 days

Weight? 31.2 lbs (95 percentile)

Height? 34.5 (96 percentile)

What a month!
He can point out his nose, tongue, teeth, ears, eyes, belly and chest.
He can sign please, thank you, friends, together, baby, more, and again.
He knows what he wants and will show you.
He can moo like a cow, snort like a pig, bark like a dog, quack like a duck and he attempts to make a fish face. We have a bunch of animals in his bathtub and I can ask him where something is and he will get it for me without me showing him.
He is such a dare devil. He will climb up on anything he can. He has no fear and I have The Little Gym to thank for that.
His communication skills have improved. He still doesn't talk much but I can tell he really wants to. His signing and letting me know what he wants by showing me are amazing.....just have to get that tongue working.
He loves Toy Story 1, 2 and 3 and would watch them all day if I allowed it.
We have a new best friend, Miguel, and we do everything with him and his mom Gabby. To the point where Miguel can say Bro Bro and I am trying to teach him to call Miguel, Mi. They are so adorable and I just love this little friendship.

My little boo. God I love him so much. He is getting to be so much fun and watching him learn new things just makes my heart grow. He makes everything about my life just that much better. He can be bratty and spoiled sometimes but it's OK, because he really is sweet and just loves to cuddle. Being his mom is my favorite thing!
